Just wanted to post another optimistic article. This one, entitled “New Hope for Immigration Reform” reports that U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif. “would like to offer green cards to foreign students who receive graduate degrees from U.S. universities in science, technology, engineering and math. They’re benefiting from our education system; why send them back to India or China to compete against us? If they want to stay, we should welcome them. Many of today’s valley companies were started by immigrants.” This is a great idea. China and India, in particular, are increasing their efforts to retain skilled workers by increasing wages and standards of living. Currently, skilled workers (except for those at the very top of their fields) have to wait years for green cards.
